When did you last boot your PC?

Many of us have the habit of not switching off their laptops / desktops at work. For those of you who run Windows and wish to know since when they haven’t switched off their machine, here is the step by step process.

1.) Click on Start –> Run. Type Cmd and hit enter.

2.) Enter systeminfo at the command window shown.

e.g. : C:\> systeminfo

Sytem Information
Sytem Information

3.) The display shown after that contains some very vital information with regards to your very system. The field named System Up Time contains the information with regards to the time since you last booted your system. For me its been more than 3days :(

The systeminfo command line tool enables an administrator to query for basic system configuration information. It also gives us some other vital information like when was your operating system installed.

If you wish to figure out the date when your Operating System was installed, check for the field Original Install Date to get the date on which your Operating System was installed. From the example figure above, my Operating system was installed on 4/8/2008, 7:17:39 PM. Its been quite some time :)
