Vista Pain - "Deleted" Files in the Program Files Folder

Some programs expect to be able to store files (configuration, documents, game saves, etc.) under C:\Program Files. If you use Vista's User Account Control feature, you probably haven't had to care that these files are silently and automatically relocated to C:\Users\YOURLOGIN\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files. However if you turn off Vista UAC, your program will suddenly fail to find those files (after reboot) because Vista's folder redirection is no longer applied (I tend to use hibernate Vista (using the shutdown /h command) all the time, so this issue may only apply to files created after disabling UAC but before rebooting). The solution is to manually move (or copy) the specific program's folder from VirtualStore\Program Files to the real c:\Program Files folder. If you are currently using UAC, you might want to give TweakUAC a try. This will disable most UAC popups that ask you to confirm a privileged operation, however it will prompt you to confirm when you run an unknown application.
