Languages for Slax (website and OS)

As you may noticed, Slax has been released with support for 27 foreign languages. Still I received about 10 mails from different countries that their language is not supported or they can’t translate Slax web to it.

So, why did I choose to support certain languages and not the others? In general, I do not know much about foreign languages. I just found a file, /usr/share/locale/locale.alias, which describes what alias/encoding/charset/whatever is needed for given languages. After some cleanup of duplicate entries, and after removing of all Asian languages like Japanese, Chinese, etc (which I know NOTHING about), there was 27 languages with known alias. I can support only languages with known alias, because that information is essential to setup Slax correctly.

For some reason, mainly for simplicity, I’ve decided to support on the website only the same languages which are supported in Slax.

So, how to get your own language supported by Slax? The answer is simply while the solution will be perhaps pretty hard: as written in the locale.alias file, send your language and alias using the glibcbug script to . But I have no idea where to get the script. Anyway, I am unable to support your language if it is not mentioned in the locale.alias file, I am sorry.
