Chief Information Officer Douglas Merrill of Google will be leaving to become President of EMI digital unit record label. The news that Merrill will be leaving has been confirmed by a Google Spokeswoman, but she could not confirm where he will be going.
According to Cnet News, a source close to the matter says Merrill will be starting at EMI this month and the position was created specifically for him.
What can a former Google employee do in the music industry? Well EMI is struggling at the moment due to the fact they do not understand the internet and the technology that let users burn and copy music then share it around the Globe for free.
With Douglas Merrill at the helm you can expect EMI to have a complete turn around for the better in the coming years.
