With the 700MHz Spectrum Auction now over and done, winners unveiled, and the sign of openness slowly becoming a norm, Google Android is on it's way on becoming the leading Mobile Linux OS. (well so I hope)
Google not winning a Spectrum at the Auction can only do more good than harm since Google does not have the technical know how on building a network, so all you die hard fanboys no need to get into a life threatening fit. By losing, Google has ensured that Android Phones will not be restricted because of it's open nature and their Mobile Applications can be downloaded without stupid restrictions by networks who only want customers to download and buy what they offer alone (Verizon the main culprit, CRUCIFY THE.....OK I don't want cause an uprising)
While Google push for openness has bared fruit, it will also benefit the the competing Mobile OS's such as Windows Mobile, Symbian, and others. Now, this doesn't mean that Google's plan will backfire, Google's is to get their applications onto as many devices possible, thus meaning they would put allot of effort in getting their applications competing OS's even though they would most likely play second fiddle to Android.
Anyway, at this point information on Android is very bleak, no one is really sure what Google is planning so all we can do is make wild speculations all round. I hope that as the clock winds down for the introduction of the first Android device to the market Google will unveil some needy information that would make us all drool like little puppy dogs.
