Troubled Open Handset Alliance Member Motorola has been recognized by the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade for the 9th time. Who would have expect? I guess the Queen awards and the Queen herself have a soft spot for the Big M? Heh heh.

Sir David Brown, chairman Motorola Ltd said, “It is a great honour for Motorola to be recognized by the Queen’s Award for the ninth time, the division has enjoyed tremendous success in the international market and we look forward to further growth in the future.

Glad to see Motorola stepping in the spotlight with some positive news, lets see how they will stand out this year and the next and the next and....you get the drift...right?

HTC shows off Google Android phones?

Think the HTC "DREAM" was a fluke? Well check out these Google Android phones below their Windows Mobile counterparts. This is a huge speculation on my part, but i strongly believe those 4 phones are Google Android phones, there is no denying it.

You see that one beside the phone with the qwerty keyboard? doesn't it look similar to the phone used to demonstrate Google Android in the video I posted a while back? Look closely and you will see that it's basically the same thing. Same color, same size probably because the picture could make the phone look bigger than it really is.

Come the 6th of May, we will see all these phones in action at the HTC announced event, hopefully.

T-Mobile to offer 3G and WiFi

After so long, T-Mobile a member of the Open Handset A;alliance has finally seen the opportunity of offering 3G to its subscribers. 3G won't be the only thing though, t-Mobile will be putting WiFi in the mix as well, it will be cheap unlicensed WiFi for all...not quite for this service will not be nationwide!

The new service will see WiFi switching seamlessly to 3G whenever you are out of range and vice versa. T-Mobile will be using the $4.2 billion worth of spectrum it bought form the FCC back in 2006 to roll out the new service.

T-Mobile is in a bitter sweet position here, WiFi is the fastest wireless technology that is out on the market right now, but getting it nationwide will not be easy plus there are strong competition from Sprint and Verizon with their WiMax and LTE wireless services respectively. Lets just sit back and enjoy competition shall we?

Motorola expands WiMax Access Point

Motorola is taking their time to rise back to glory, in this effort they added another WiMax Access Point to their portfolio. The new Access Point is called 802.16e, Wave 2-ready WAP 450 access point and is slated for availability later this year, delivers improved wireless coverage and is more energy-efficient than previous products.

Motorola also goes on to say that WAP 450 access point delivers as much as 10 watts of power output per sector at the antenna point, whereas traditional ground base stations send out 20 watts or more but lose about half that in the radio frequency (RF) cables. Pretty neat isn't it so?

WiMax seem to be the choice for allot of wireless companies but with Sprint p[laying with the deployment of WiMax, we may never see WiMax surviving within 5yrs, but despise of all that, Mpotorola sees a future in this endeavor.

Lets all hope that WiMax lives on to become an industry standard

Former AT&T President heads Motorola

Google Android news is slow today but that won't stop me from getting some form of news on here today. As you may already know, Motorola is a troubled OHA member who is trying to role back the years when Motorola sit on the throne.

After all the problems facing them, they have now found a new Board Chairman in David Dorman a former President of the biggest Wireless Carrier in the United states, AT&T. David Dorman statred at AT&T way back in 2000 following the failure of Concert Communications, now you can see the fruits that have come out of that.

Shipping next week, the Samsung G810

Samsung a member of the Open Handset Alliance, will be shipping their G810 mobile phone next week. The phone looks really sleek as you would expect any Samsung phone to look, and will be going head to head with the Nokia N95.

This phone is a true Beauty & the Beast, sexy on the outside and a true monster on the inside. The phone comes well equipped with Symbian 9.2 s60 3rd edition, HSDPA connectivity, 5 megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom, built-in GPS, Wi-Fi b/g, 3.5mm headphone jack and YouTube video streaming. Lets not forget the 2.6" screen!

The 2.6" size will likely be too small for the females but youtube video streaming will make up for the size so if you are a male reading this, your little female won't be diappointed

HTC to be unvieled in London May 6th?

Well well, look what we have here hiding in the dark section of the internet, you remember the announcement of the HTC Dream couple weeks ago? Well PhoneMag has made a huge announcement regarding the HTC Dream, or is it?

According to PhoneMag, they got an ivitation with the tag line “Witness the next wave of HTC Innovation.” Saying that HTC will be unveiling the Dream is just wild speculations at this point and must be taken with a bit of salt but without cyanide this time, this Blogger does need ghost readers.

I will be keeping a close eye on PhoneMag come May 6 as the editor of the story will be there live and direct so make sure to stick around as I crawl the internet for information regarding the matter.

Google Android under fire

Remember that story Fragmentation intended by Android? Well some lone ranger over at Google Groups took it upon himself to attack Google directly with the fragmentation issue that Sanjay Jha, chief operating officer of Qualcomm's chipset division stated.

After the lone ranger made his points and claims, Google's Dan Morrill replied by saying:

Jha is not a Google employee, and does not speak for Google; at best, he
might be speaking for his own company. His statements as quoted are
obviously way out of step with the real objectives of Android, and are his
personal speculation insofar as they mention Google.
The sole goal of the Android project is to produce a high-quality, fully
open platform designed from top to bottom for mobile. Google is involved
because we want to help build the kind of platform we want to use.

AndroidGuys: 34 Weeks of OHA: #13

Been awhile since I bring you another 34 Weeks of OHA from AndroidGuys, and as you can see it's in the 13th Episode.

Fragmentation intended by Android?

Thats what the chief operating officer of the chipset division at wireless technology and solution firm Qualcomm had to say about Google Android purpose while speaking to the Register.

That was not all, he went on to state that Google wants to ensure that there is no equivalent of Microsoft Office in the mobile phone market. So it seems Google's plan for Android is more than just offering an Linux based Open-Source Operating system, making sure that Microsoft does not get a iron grip on the mobile market with it's office products is very important.

Microsoft's Office Suite in my opinion is the best that they have to offer, and as bad as they are that fact cannot be denied. Google Applications are very important for Google going forward with Android, i mean, thats one of the reasons they push for openness in the FCC Wireless Spectrum so Google Applications are no lomger restricted from being downloaded on to Android Devices.
