EPiServer Readies for U.S. Expansion the EPi Way

The Swedish WCM vendor EPiServer is finally making it to our side of the pond. Exclusively, our contacts at EPiServer told us the company is actively pursuing an ASAP office opening in the U.S. Watch out, competition! It is all going to be done the “EPi way.” Which means starting up in new markets in a “lean way,” until there is enough business to go full throttle. Function-wise, the .NET-focused EPi is planning to start in the U.S. with, of course, sales.

Enterprise CMS Socialism: Sense/Net Supports CMIS

The Enterprise CMS socialism saga continues... Sense/Net, a Hungarian provider of open source alternative for building Enterprise CMS and Enterprise Portal (EPS) solutions, has implemented a prototype of the burgeoning CMIS spec. Joining the big guns and attaching your name to a popular concept can be very attractive. Sense/Net couldn’t resist. We talked to them to get the scoop.

Sense/Net pledges support for CMIS standard

Sense/Net, the open-source ECM and portal building specialist, has implemented a prototype of the Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) open standard in its Sense/Net 6.0 product. The new version of Sense/Net 6.0 sees the Content Repository featuring a CMIS-compliant interface, while the portal will have a CMIS client portlet. CMIS, developed to allow greater interoperability between CMS systems, databases and repositories, will mean a far easier job for web developers working with disparate systems, according to Tamas Biro, co-founder of Sense/Net.

ECM Provider Clearview Gets Cozier with SharePoint

Being that Clearview Enterprise Content Management is, as they say, the first SharePoint-based solution, we think they rock pretty hard. Well, in the world of Microsoft at least. And now, not even six months since we last reported an upgrade to Clearview ECM, they’ve gone and released version 5.0 (more rockage). The release offers lots of exciting changes and new features, including a new Business Process Management module and compatibility with Kofax 8.0.

Microsoft, in an effort to gain market share amongst young companies, has announced an ambitious program that would allow certain startups to utilize their server software for free. To be eligible for the BizSpark program, a private company must be in business for no more than three years, have less than $1 million in annual revenue and must be referred by one of Microsoft's partners.

Sitecore Boasts Over 100% Year-Over-Year Revenue Growth

Sitecore, a famed .NET Web CMS vendor, announced that its 2008 revenues have grown by over 100% over the prior fiscal. Reportedly, 95% of revenues are coming from new license sales, 4% -- from training and less than 1% -- from Professional Services. While this kind of revenue percentage distribution may seem kind of funky to some, knowing Sitecore's focus on software development and exclusive outsourcing of PS and related implementation activities to its third-party integrators and partners -- we are not surprised.
