Tiny Geo-coder Webapp Converts Addresses to Latitude and Longitude

Looking for the latitude and longitude of a particular address? Tiny Geo-coder will give you results in an instant, and based on my tests is accurate even when the address isn't perfect (for instance, leaving "street" out of a street number or using a city's popular acronym).

Location Package In Drupal 6

CivicActions recently undertook a project to review, upgrade, test and patch many contributed Drupal 6 modules to ensure their compatibility with localization (multi-lingual website support). While the endeavour has been supported by Sony BMG for their Drupal multisite on which they run about 80 artist websites and MyPlay.com, the resulting localization-compatible modules will benefit countless Drupal sites including those of some of our other clients when they upgrade to Drupal 6. As part of this process I documented my recommendations for the upgrade path for the Location package and it's data from Drupal 5 to Drupal 6.

BrightKite, FireEagle, and Airports

I use BrightKite to update my location via SMS, and it feeds FireEagle, which in turn posts to my lifestream via Movable Type and the Action Streams Plugin. If any of that made sense, keep reading. The problem is that when I send brightkite a message like: @bos It sometimes knows that is Logan Airport in Boston, and sometimes just knows that as BOS, United States, which results in updates like this: Anyone know why this is happening? Brightkite’s fault? Fire Eagle’s fault? Neither?
