Mid-Market DAM Solutions Lacking in Numbers

When it comes to Digital Asset Management, most of the players are divided between low-end solutions and high-end solutions. According to the recent DAM report from CMS Watch, the mid-market offering is going by the way side. One would think this is somewhat odd, considering the middle market is probably the largest one out there.

Lifting Veil of Secrecy About Search Technologies

The act of initiating a query via search functionality is no longer seen as a magical, mythical process. According to a recent CMS Watch report, The Search and Information Access Report 2009, enterprise search technology is no longer perceived as being a stealth and secretive operation.

CMS Watch Teaches Fundamentals of eDiscovery

Harsh economic times are safe havens for those in the legal industry. So many desperate acts, so little time to search and discover each one. Such little time is driving up legal costs and stretching companies' resources thin. So much so, that many enterprises choose to simply settle cases in order to avoid the costly and, often, painful process altogether. While many eDiscovery solutions have conveniently popped up in the marketplace in time for financial meltdowns, it's not always easy for companies to decide what to do and how. CMS Watch to the rescue.

Can't Tell an Email Archive from a Backup Solution?

Just when you think we've come so far, a report comes along and makes you question the whole thing. Case in point, a recent CMS Watch report found that enterprises tend to confuse e-mail archiving with traditional back-up and recovery. What? Really? We couldn't make this up if we tried.

FatWire Wants a Piece of SharePoint Too

Lately, Web CMS and Enterprise CMS vendors have been choosing to co-exist with SharePoint peacefully and friendly rather than fight it. The friendly gesture tends to come in the shape of various SharePoint connectors and integrations.

Mid-Market Enterprise CMS Thrives, SharePoint Suffers

SharePoint suffers, as mid-market Enterprise CMS (ECM) vendors excel, a report from CMS Watch reveals. After an evaluation of 30 leaders in the ECM industry, everyone seems to be happy except the Microsoft people -- which seems to be becoming a trend. Ironically enough, it is Microsoft SharePoint that is propelling the industry forward.

CMSWatch Vendor Map: Random Thoughts on Microsoft, Google, Facebook and Vignette

CMS Watch has a pretty interesting content management vendor map (see link below), laid out in the format of a subway map, which makes for intriguing viewing. The diagram is overtly enterprise-oriented, and links vendors according to their scope of operations across various content management arenas like Enterprise CMS, email archiving, DAM, XML management, etc. It's interesting to note that there are five main 'Hubs' -- extending the subway metaphor -- of vendors who can provide pretty much everything. Microsoft, IBM, OpenText, EMC and Oracle.

EVENT: Education Web Professional National Conference

edwebpros.jpg Educational web managers are often lonely, misunderstood geeks who are crucial members of the communications staff but get unfairly lumped in with IT. These dedicated souls must synthesize content for a variety of audiences (faculty, administration, parents, alumni, students) while also single-handedly updating calendars, uploading forms, and managing schedules. image
