Christmas Lights in Bucharest

After a public challenge and a miserable failure I had to try again and I think the photos are just a bit better and the place was better organized (being so close tot he Christmas). Overall I am still unhappy with the photo session and I still think the city officials did a shitty job, but Saturday night on location a big glass (400ml) of boiled wine temporarily changed by view about the world and life.

Photoblog

More than once after a photo shooting session I had the impulse to blog about how it went, the ups and downs, to echo my happiness or frustration. And usually I restrained myself from doing so, as I felt it will be useless noise in the various places places where it is aggregated - not a good thing to restrain yourself. Of course I could use tags to filter the topics, but I don't want to be that restrictive and let from time to time some offtopic posts, so after some deliberation I decided to start a new blog, dedicated to photography (don't hurry up there, you won't find any upskirt photo), this way I can have a cleaner layout, a simpler navigation and a better URL.

I learned a new word: Bokeh

While almost our entire community is celebrating Obama's victory, overshadowing the F10 Preview Release (anyone wonders why so few diggs for the announcement?) I decided to do my own offtopic post about the latest word I learned: Bokeh.

Denied By Reign

Jono Bacon announced the Denied By Reign, the first Severed Fifth release under a Creative Commons license. Free metal, I had do download it and keep the torrent seeding, even if there are few downloaders (it seems like I wont' get to a 1 or 1.5 share ratio anytime soon).

Cantocore Export Opening Images + Beijing

Lu made a post about the Cantocore Export which I got to the last 15 minutes of after a trip to SF -> KC -> HKG -> Guangzhou Here is a nice glowing image from the opening:

Opening Remix Network 1.1

I updated the Opening Remix Networks with some new slides, dropped some other wasteful ones, and I think the presentation is much better. Of course, there are times where I play video, and I’ve substituted slides for those clips and associated audio files.

Opening Remix Networks at Electromediascope

I gave presentation last connecting up my artistic/creative trajectory, involvements with Open Source, Open Content, Creative Commons, on into new projects, exemplified through Cantocore (at present). Thanks to all who came out, watched some of the pixellated videos I presented, and laughed at a few of my bad jokes

CreativeCommons Romanian launch

Yesterday, 2 September 2008, the Creative Commons licenses were launched in Romania. I was invited and used the opportunity to take some photos. The main talk was delivered by Bogdan Manolea, the main guy behind this initiative (Bogdan is well known for his website about internet and legislation):

Fedora 10 themes Round 2

The second round in the process of creating a visual theme for Fedora 10 ended yesterday, those are the proposals meeting the requirement and which will pass into the third (last) round (listed in chronological order): Gears Neon InvinXible

Going to FUDCon

The First Meet-up of the Art Team As both Martin and me will be present, we probably will pompously claim the first meet-up of the Fedora Art Team (Mo suggested the title): probably the first time when two active members of the Art Team will be in the same room, so join us if you are interested, this will take place most likely Saturday and we plan to keep a session about Fedora Art (F-10 themes, Echo, Nodoka, Art Team in general). Me and the hackfest

Build and they will come - the wallpaper gallery

It may be a bit early for that, but our Fedora Extras Wallpaper Gallery is starting to look like a success story. And not necessarily because in a few days we gathered an important number of images or because that some of those are not bad at all, the most important part is, I think, that we provide a new and easy way to contribute. Some people may want to contribute somehow, but they are not coders so can't involve in development, are not good English writers to contribute to documentation, have no large experience with graphic software and are afraid to contribute to Art and so on, or just maybe not enough free time.

A wallpaper gallery

Do you felt a need for more wallpapers (colorful, vivid, photographic) for your Fedora desktop? Or maybe you wanted to contribute yourself a self made beautiful photo which is suitable as a wallpaper and share it with the rest of the community? Well, we thought it is an useful thing to have, so Martin took the initiative and create a simple extra wallpaper gallery inside the wiki, with the main purpose of being a place from where is easy to hand pick the best images for a package but also as a gallery open for everyone and quickly me and Vara uploaded a few photos, to get the ball rolling.
