The course is called Computational Visualistics, which is basically Computer Science, but with an emphasis on its visual elements like computer graphics or image processing.

1,788 Entries submitted to Android Developer Challenge

Is that number a beast or what? The Google Android Developer Challenge saw developers from over 70 countries submit 1,788 entries to the Challenge, all hoping to get some dough.

Mini Opera eyes Android

Opera Softwares has announced that Mini Opera the leading Web Browser on Mobile Devices is set to battle Android when it invades the earth later this year. If you're like me who use Mini Opera allot, then you would know how great this Browser is, still limited but it's a ongoing work in progress. Opera Software CEO didn't go quiet on this matter, he said, "Opera Mini will be able to empower users of Android-based handsets with access to all of their favorite Web sites with popular features for smooth effects and scalable, tailored viewing." yeah we've heard that before, but for Google Android? It's even better hearing it the millionth time. Mini Opera is been used by 40 Million users worldwide, thats more than how many people are in Jamaica, way more. You can also download Mini Opera to be used on your Android Emulator, but before I reveal the link I must let you know some known issues! Google I/O developer event

Google has bee3n holding allot of event s lately, this latest on will be held at San Francisco's Moscone Center on Wednesday, May 28 and Thursday, May 29. This event will be interesting for developers because there will hands-on advice on building applications, learn and discuss emerging trends.Also featuring at the event is a track dedicated to how Google's Android OS and Google Gears browser extension software can enable the creation of mobile web applications. Unfortunately, the event is not free to enter, developers will be asked to pay USD$400 for tickets and students will be getting a discount. Whether you are developing for Android or the iPhone, this event should not be missed!!

Jetty gets ported to Android

Confused? you're asking what the hell is Jetty? Well its not a game thats for sure, it's actually a web and application server that will let Android users serve data stored on the phone such as contact details, system settings and call log within a browser window. You can also modify, view and listen to multimedia files which is really cool. The Android vewrsion of Jetty will be called i-Jetty [everything has an 'i' nowadays] and is developed by webtide who a global company that specializes in supporting and serving scalable Web 2.0 applications using Java, Ajax, and Comet. The company is the lead developer of the open source Jetty:// Java web server and Hightide, a comprehensive toolset for the development of scalable web 2.0 applications. Google Android has been seeing a host of great applications coming it's way, and we can bet that the Android Developer Challenge will only make things allot more inyeresting.

Google has recently put a reminder out to all developers about the upcoming deadline of the Android Developer Challenge, the deadline will be on April 14, this year of course.
