Adobe Systems seems primed to take the Enterprise Content Management business by storm. Their Adobe LiveCycle ES (Enterprise Suite) has just been updated with the content management capabilities of enterprise content management provider Alfresco, helping them deliver to their customers an integrated solution that encompasses data capture, document output, content services and more.
According to Alfresco, this new technology partnership represents a shared vision "for a new class of applications that utilize flexible, open source and Web 2.0 standards that deliver rich and engaging enterprise experiences".

Adobe is at again illustrating their dedication to the world of design/development and the understanding that if youre not focusing towards the web in some fashion, youre going to end up a day late and dollar short in the end. So they bring you Fireworks CS4 Beta. A program that is quickly becoming an all in one design and development application like never seen before.

Betas are always a joy. They give you the opportunity to review new and upcoming products prior to actual release. You get the opportunity to see what new features are available and help work out bugs in programs to ensure proper functioning when they are actually released. We took the opportunity to try out the new Adobe betas released by Adobe Labs last week -- starting with Dreamweaver CS4.

There's a new game in town for online productivity applications. It hails from Adobe and if you like the look and feel of flash, you will like this suite of applications. The suite is called Acrobat.com and contains three applications that are required for almost all business needs. But does it compare to Zoho or Google Docs? We played around a little to see.

Web media is changing and video and interactivity are growing at such a rapid rate many cutting edge companies are following the trend with new product development. Adobe Systems Incorporated has released a sneak peek of three applications in beta stages still. Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Fireworks, and Adobe Soundbooth are now available for free download in a sneak peek beta version.
...and I will infect the world:
Symantec has warned of a security hole in Adobe's Flash Player that is already being exploited by web sites to install trojans onto users' computers. Adobe is still analysing the bug and has not yet been able to release an update.
...
The malicious code only appears to be attacking Windows at present. ISC reports that it downloads the files ax.exe and setip.exe. However, the vulnerability probably affects Flash Player for other operating systems as well. It is therefore likely to be just a question of time before malware coders are distributing malicious code for Linux and Mac OS X.
Another reason to flee Flash.
Adobe® Flash® Player 10, code-named “Astro,” introduces new expressive features and visual performance improvements that allow interactive designers and developers to build the richest and most immersive Web experiences. These new capabilities also empower the community to extend Flash Player and to take creativity and interactivity to a new level.

"People are ignorant, but we already know that. As usual, I’ve read something really stupid on Twitter this morning. It said: I hope Apple will develop for everyone [every OS]. I think it would be one of the worst things to ever happen. Why do people want to install non-free software on free systems?
Good direction for Adobe - I’d like to say there was more, but for now, this is a good direction.

Just notice Cote covered the action: http://www.redmonk.com/cote/2008/05/01/adobes-open-screen-project-a-plan-lower-barriers-to-using-flash-checking-up-on-the-ria-wars/
Gnash certainly hopes so. Gnash is an open source Flash player, being developed under the GPL. Currently available only for Linux versions such as embedded GNU/Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, and OpenBSD, they’re working on a Windows port...The question is whether Adobe will let them go any further.

In the fifth installment of my Top 10 List of Linux FUD patterns, I discussed various security measures used in Linux distros. Last week, the CanSecWest security conference invited hackers to circumvent security on three fully-patched computers running different operating systems: OS X, Windows Vista & Ubuntu 7.10. The OS X machine reportedly fell first, requiring only two minutes to exploit a vulnerability in the Safari browser! Vista fared well on its own, but an attack on Adobe Flash in the last day marked the end for Windows. At the end of the three-day contest, The Ubuntu machine was the only one left standing! This is good news indeed!
